Firefox is an Internet browser that has gained a lot of ground in the past few years. Traditionally, the browser space is owned by none other than Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer is bundled with Microsoft’s operating systems, and whenever you buy a personal desktop or laptop that is loaded with Windows, you will find Internet Explorer already bundled with your system. That means with minimal hassle, you will be able to launch the browser and surf the Internet.

With such a convenient browser installed in the system, one might ask why would anyone bother to download a third party Internet browser? The answer lies in the different ways that both browsers are developed.

Microsoft’s Internet Explorer is the market leader. One would expect that being the market leader, Internet Explorer would be the best browser in the market. For a time, it was indeed at the top. However, remember that this browser was given birth by a commercial company, which is profit driven. As the Internet continues to evolve at break neck speeds, so does the needs of Internet users. Soon, more and more feature requests are being put up by users.

The problem is, although Microsoft takes user feedback very seriously, they are slow in responding to the users’ needs and wants. Being a large corporation obviously slows response time, and even then, it is difficult to please everyone.

To fill this gap, third party developers have started a new browser – Firefox. Firefox is fast gaining popularity because of the numerous add-ons put up by various third party developers. The add-ons are what make the Firefox browser so attractive, powered by a very active community. Users are constantly giving feedback based on their usage experience and preferences, and third party developers are responding very quickly to their requests and interests with solutions.

As more and more add-ons have become available, Firefox is now the most personalized browser on the market. You can choose to install any type of add-ons you want.

For example, a technology site recently came up with a review of some of the best Firefox add-ons. These add-ons include popup blockers, automatic form fillers, calculation tools, and other useful extensions. Not only does this provides a more personalized experience, the add-ons also provide much greater convenience for users.

Community driven software and applications are often driven by interest groups. The more active the interest groups, the more add-ons will be developed. You can observe this interesting phenomenon in the Internet marketing community.

Internet marketers can now make use a variety of add-ons to help them with their marketing efforts. They can download SEO (search engine optimization) tools, web directory submission tools, keyword research add-ons, and more – all for the sake of bringing more traffic to their websites.

Without Firefox, all that will not be possible. Therefore, despite Internet Explorer’s recent strong efforts to improve it’s browser, many Firefox users have chosen to remain loyal to their current browser. Obviously, they wouldn’t know what to do without those useful add-ons!
